Just an hour’s journey by speedboat from Kampala you have the opportunity to visit man’s closest living relative in his natural setting. The chimpanzees at this sanctuary have been rescued from captivity and set free to roam on Ngamba Island.
Rest and relax before a short briefing followed by Chimpanzee viewing, including feeding time! Swimming and Kayaking are also allowed which adds a fun element to this fascinating trip. Morning and afternoon trips available.
A courtesy visit to the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) is also available if you wish to extend your time in Entebbe.
Trips directly from Entebbe can be arranged from USD $90 per person (minimum 4 people – but just ask us if we already have people that you can travel with).
The price per person includes return boat transport from Entebbe, entrance to the Sanctuary and courtesy entrance to Uganda Wildlife Education Centre.
A minimum of 4 and maximum of 10 people allowed on the speed boat. For larger groups (minimum 8 people) motorized canoes are also available but this would be a full-day tour and will be priced separately.
Booking in advance is recommended as the trip is subject to availability of boat seats and maximum numbers of visitors allowed per day on the Island.
Departure Time from Kampala: 7:30am for a morning trip or before 12 noon for afternoon trips.
Lunch options: Bring your own packed lunch, enjoy a local Ugandan meal on the Island, or stop for lunch at Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel or Botanical Beach Hotel in Entebbe. Swimming is also available at either of the hotel pools for a small fee.
Lunch, beverages, swimming and personal items are not included in the prices quoted above.
